Nirmal Gram Puraskar – 2008
The Nirmal Gram Puraskar (NGP) 2008 was a prestigious recognition conferred by the Government of India on Gram Panchayats and other Local Self-Government Institutions that demonstrated outstanding performance in rural sanitation, cleanliness, and waste management.
The award primarily recognized Gram Panchayats and Block Panchayats that achieved 100% Open Defecation Free (ODF) status and effectively implemented sanitation programmes. Priority was given to Local Self-Government Institutions that had established and properly maintained solid and liquid waste management systems.
The award recognized exemplary efforts in sanitation, elimination of open defecation, solid and liquid waste management, cleanliness, and sustainable sanitation practices, contributing towards the vision of creating clean and hygienic rural communities.
